Capitol Chat - The California legislature is attempting to regain the state's stature of having the strictest gun laws after New York lawmakers recently passed a package of laws giving their state the toughest gun control laws in America. Capitol Bureau Chief Ben Adler gives us the details in this week's Capitol Chat.
California's Gun Laws - US attorney Ben Wagner joins us with details of California's current gun control regulations and why some of those regulations aren't being enforced.
Do California's Gun Laws Work? - There are already a number of laws on the books in California - and federally - regarding gun ownership. Do those existing laws work? Have they reduced the number of gun deaths in the areas where they're stronger and well-enforced? We'd like to talk with two professors who have both done extensive research on various topics related to gun control and gun violence and have come to different conclusions about what works and why. Jen suggests William Vizzard at Sac State (generally believes more gun control is ineffective) and Garen Wintemute at UC Davis (correlates gun violence with public health and works on prevention of firearm violence)
